There's nothing quite like the luxurious feel of cashmere. At Hobbs, our cashmere knitwear is crafted from 100% pure cashmere yarn from the plains of Inner Mongolia. Home to the long-haired goat, whose wool is the softest, lightest and finest there is.

Lightweight and warm, our cashmere jumpers and cardigans are true wardrobe heroes that will not only see you through the winter season, they'll last year after year. With wear, some pilling will appear due to the delicate nature of the fibres, but with a little love and attention, you can make sure your pieces stay looking their best. Here's our step by step care guide...

WASHING CASHMERE

  1. Turn your garment inside out and place into a bowl of cool water containing mild detergent to hand wash.
  2. Gently press the water through the fabric with your fingers. Avoid rubbing or wringing, as this will stretch the garment.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with fresh, clean, cool water.

DRYING CASHMERE

  1. Saturated garments should not be lifted until excess water has been removed, as this may cause them to stretch.
Instead, carefully lay the garment flat on a towel, then roll it up so the towel absorbs most of the water.
  2. On a flat surface, gently smooth and press the garment back into shape with your palms.
  3. Dry flat, away from sunlight or direct heat sources such as radiators.

SMOOTHING CASHMERE

  1. Once dry, turn the garment inside out and with a cool iron, press lightly.
  2. Alternatively, carefully use a clothes steamer to smooth any remaining creases.

DE-PILLING CASHMERE

  1. Turn your garment inside out and lay it flat before removing any pilling.
  2. Using a pilling comb, gently comb your cashmere in one direction for the best results.
  3. Turn your garment back the right way round and repeat.
  4. When you have finished de-pilling, use a lint roller to carefully remove any excess fluff.

STORING CASHMERE

  1. Avoid hanging cashmere, as this will pull the natural fibres and cause your garment to lose its shape.
  2. Place cedar blocks in your wardrobe or drawers to help keep the moths away.
  3. For extra protection from moths between seasons, store your garments in airtight zip-lock bags.
