EXPLORE THE COLLECTION STORY
Now that you're spending more time at home, consider it the perfect opportunity to reorganise your wardrobe for the days ahead. Here, our Brand Stylist Maddy Moxham, shares her step-by-step guide to approaching the task.
STEP 1:CONSIDER YOUR WARDROBE NEEDS Start by thinking about the clothes that will make you feel comfortable and just as importantly – upbeat – over the next few months. At Hobbs, we talk about the value of creating a capsule wardrobe and focusing on what you naturally gravitate towards, can help shape it. Then, it's all about keeping these pieces really accessible so it’s not a battle each day.
STEP 2: DEDICATE TIME TO THE TASK Make sure you’ve got a few hours to work on this without interruptions. Choose a weekend, make a cup of tea, lock everyone else out of your room, put some music on and get stuck in. It’s fun to look at all the lovely clothes you own, put them on and try different ways to wear them. You may even rediscover forgotten items, so give the task the attention it deserves.
STEP 3: REASSESS YOUR DRESSES What I've realised these last few weeks is that I'm really missing wearing dresses. So when I reorganised my wardrobe, I pulled out a few brighter dress styles and I've started to wear them under jumpers or over tapered trousers. This will give them a relaxed feel that's perfect for evening lounging.
STEP 4:DIG OUT THE RIGHT COAT In our household, the daily walk is the highlight of our day but my puffer coat is too warm for this time of year. I prefer something lightweight and layerable. In an uplifting camel, yellow or green shade, it will be easy to slip on when you’re ushering the kids out the door or trying to encourage outside activities!
STEP 5:CARE, WEAR AND REPAIR Cherish pieces that are made from natural fabrics such as cotton shirts, linen tops and wool jumpers. These will last for years and years if you care for them properly! For anything that needs some attention, now's a great time to put your sewing skills to use. Whether it's shortening some trousers, mending a hem, replacing a button or even customising some tired favourites. These are the jobs that offer the at-home satisfaction we need right now.
You can still enjoy art, theatre and live music from the comfort of your sofa, thanks to our round-up of virtual experiences.
