EXPLORE THE COLLECTION STORY
Here at Hobbs, we've always been passionate about flowers. Studying them for our floral prints and featuring them in our photography; picking up a few tips along the way. So when you can't be outside, here's how to bring the outdoors in – whatever you've got growing in your garden.
FORAGE FOR FLOWERS Your garden and local woodlands will already be flourishing with spring flowers, allowing you to create arrangements with what's at your fingertips. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, narcissi, anemones, sweet peas and blossom trees are all in bloom right now. Go for a riot of colour and a mixture of short and tall stems to make it look carefree, joyful and uplifting.
WILD IS BEAUTIFULEven weeds produce pretty flowers and wildflowers such as poppies, cow parsley, wild garlic and cornflower are plentiful – so take a look at everything with fresh eyes. Branches, green foliage and shrubbery can help add volume to arrangements but will also make a dramatic centrepiece on their own. A great solution if you want to fill a large space.
LESS CAN BE MOREFocusing on one variety of flower can be really impactful. You could dedicate a whole vase to it or take a minimal approach and display a trio of vases together with each one holding a single stem.
IT'S ALL IN THE VASEWhat you choose to arrange your flowers in can also impact the overall look. But anything is a potential vessel: a hand-me-down vase, old jam jar, ceramic jug or glass bottle. For a colourful statement, you could even match your blooms to your vase – we've gone for an invigorating shade of blue!
SHOW YOU CAREAt times like these we’re all looking for ways to show we care, or let loved ones know how much we miss them. If you have a bounty of blooms, you could create some posies for neighbours, family or friends, and leave them on their doorstep. Because there’s nothing quite like fresh flowers to brighten up someone's day.
This week, see how our Product Director, Sally Ambrose, has altered her office wardrobe for life indoors.
